I Heart SF

For my 21st birthday, which is a month away, my parents are taking me to San Francisco and Napa Valley for a week. I'm super excited, but haven't done too much travel research on them yet. Do y'all have any recommendations for shops, sights, or restaurants?

I've been to San Francisco once and I fell in love! I was there for a weekend scooter rally. We hit up Chinatown, Fishermans Wharf, and Haight Street.
This weekend my I'm doing a girls roadtrip to Solvang! Can't wait!

Go to the Haight! I just wrote an article for my school paper on thrifting on Haight Street:

Also, stop by the Wave Organ in the Marina at nighttime - super cool! I suggest eating at the Neiman Marcus Rotunda cafe for lunch (right downtown in Union Square)... it's so elegant and tasty!

If you come visit Marin, make sure to go to Picco Pizza in Larkspur, or Sushi Ran in Sausalito. There are some great hikes here in Marin, as well.

:) Have fun!

The SFMOMA cafe is great for lunch
Scala's Bistro is great for a fancier dinner
Fog City Diner is fun, it's in a railroad car and near the Embarcadero
Also in the Embarcadero is the Slanted Door which is amazing Asian fusion food
Anchor & Hope is an INSANE seafood restaurant

DEFINITELY go to the Legion of Honor they have an amazing exhibit of vintage Cartier jewelry right now and you can drive through a wonderful historic army base right down to the base of the Golden Gate Bridge

The Haight is fun but North Beach has a great vibe and the Mission has great vintage shopping (Clothes Contact) and really good mexican food (Papalote)

You should try to go to Berkeley one day! (That's where I'm from)
Telegraph Avenue is always fun and the campus is beautiful
There are tons of great restaurants there too (Zachary's Pizza, Cheeseboard Pizza, Dona Tomas, Burma Superstar, Khanna Peena)

hope you have a great time! The Bay Area is such an amazing place

If you're going to Pier 39/Fisherman's Wharf, caramel apples (at the end of the pier) and clam chowder from a bread bowl (next to the pier) or crab sandwiches!

I second the Haight (although I never buy anything there, it's worth a look) as well as the Mission for thrifting (best thrift store per unit area in the Mission, but the best Goodwill in the city, IMO, is at Japantown/Fillmore). And North Beach is fun too and very walkable! (Chinatown is the cheapest place to eat, and mostly good.)

The Legion of Honor does have a Cartier exhibit up right now (I went and all the jewelry got repetitive after a while but it was definitely !!!-inducing), but I'm a nerd so I also suggest the de Young museum for the rainforest exhibit.

The Embarcadero Farmer's Market! On Saturday mornings (and Tuesday, I think?) for breakfast and browsing.

Berkeley does have good food, not gonna lie. Pretty much everywhere around the UC Berkeley campus is good.
