New Moon, New Music

I am really in Twilight - I even have several posts related to it. So when the soundtrack came out last year, I bought it just because it was the soundtrack to the movie that I was dying to see. After a listen, though, I was a little disappointed - Paramore? Linkin Park? Really? The only standouts to me were the Iron and Wine and Black Ghosts. And most of the songs on the album had already been out for a while - it brought really nothing new to the table. However, the soundtrack for New Moon is polar opposite. It may have something to do with the better plot line, a new director and a new music supervisor (the same girl who picks out music for Grey's Anatomy and Gossip Girl - great taste already!). This soundtrack is all original songs from some of my FAVORITE artists and it looks amazing! With this music alone, its already going to be a better movie lol! I pre ordered it on itunes (you can get bonus songs that way) and it already downloaded 1 song off of it. From what I've heard, its much moodier and darker than the last, very fitting to the movie though :)

1. Death Cab for Cutie - Meet Me on the Equinox
2. Band of Skulls - Friends
3. Thom Yorke - Hearing Damage
4. Lykke Li - Possibility
5. The Killers - A White Demon Love Song
6. Anya Marina - Satellite Heart
7. Muse - I Belong to You (New Moon Remix)
8. Bon Iver and St. Vincent - Rosyln
9. Black Rebel Motorcycle Club - Done All Wrong
10. Hurricane Bells - Monsters
11. Sea Wolf - The Violet Hour
12. OK Go - Shooting The Moon
13. Grizzly Bear - Slow Life
14. Editors - No Sound But the Wind
15. Alexandre Desplat - New Moon (The Meadow)

Oooohh my Lord, I cannot wait for this!

**in other soundtrack news, just got the Where The Wild Things Are soundtrack by Karen O (of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs) and am enchanted - very fun and cute - sounds like it will go perfect with the movie!

Matte About You

Matte polish is in - its official. But instead of buying the same shades of glossy colors i already own in a matte finish, I bought the Matte About You Topcoat by Essie. It is a quick drying mattifying layer that makes any nail polish you already own matte! Its a much more practical solution with many options. (You just might to have to reapply this topcoat after a few days, to keep the shine from coming through)

Regal Ritual

It is tradition that I critique the Emmys, Golden Globes and Oscars... so here I am "critiquing" the 2009 Emmy's (well I only post the ones I like, I don't want to clutter my blog with hideous dresses lol). There were a lot of gorgeous ones this year! happiness :D
These whites have to be my top 3 of the night. Leighton has such a soft romantic look about her...I could totally see Keira wearing that. I am loving January's bodice - its modern, art deco, and futuristic all at the same time. And what can I say about Chloe?? How does she always nail it with her quirky style... I am wondering if this dress is vintage... Gennifer is a new favorite of mine - I really like her new haircut and think that it makes her dress edgier and funkier. And Mila looks cute too in her ankle length dress - a length I usually wouldn't put on a petite girl, but it works!
Sandra, Heidi, and Debra all look fabulous in their form fitting dresses - classy and age appropriate. I love how Heidi is fully celebrating her baby body - only she would look like that pregnant, right?

I have a dear spot in my heart for these poofy Cinderella dresses (not those poofy prom dresses though - ew!), they bring you back in time and into another fairy tale world :)

What were your favorites/not favorites?

Color Flow

For some reason or another Chris Benz' Spring 2010 collection reminded me of color flows (where you drop food coloring into water and watch it swirl). Perhaps it was the ladders, swooshy hair, and brightly seemingly water colored painted outfits that made me think of an artist? Either way I would love to wear any of Chris' "art."

Super Kawaii

I have several times expressed on this blog my love of sushi ,and if you may not know, all things Asian! My bestie gave me these sushi erasers from Japan from a cute kids store where she works. And not only do they have sushi, but any type of food erasers imaginable too. They are sooo realistic and adorable that I doubt I will ever use them - they are for only show and tell ;)

These erasers inspired my room theme - Asian. Here is a little glimpse of my room - my desk (under my bed) notice the takeout boxes to hold my pens, sushi erasers and this stapler! I couldn't resist ;)

P.S. I Made This

I LOVE a good DIY - that's why P.S. I Made This is my new favorite blog! It teaches you how to make runway inspired accessories and clothes, as well as some really funky home decor. All the DIY's are relatively easy (love the pictured instructions!) and inexpensive to make. I cant wait to try some out and tell people "P.S. I Made This."

Tweed Please!

Vogue bores me, but the Teen version never fails. I think I will always subscribe to Teen Vogue, even when I am 30. They still use designer clothes but mix it up in such a fun, unexpected way (unlike the mother magazine). This shoot in their September issue is just so quintessentially Teen Vogue! Colors, glitter, sweets and big smiles makes me want to be a "teen" forever!
