Black and White and EVERTHING Nice!

As, most of you can tell by now - I am very inspired my movies. When I saw the Ralph Lauren SS08 Show, I could not help but to think of Audrey Hepburn in "My Fair Lady". The blacks and whites, frills and exaggerated hats just immediately brought that movie to mind. My favorite scene is at the horse race and EVERYONE is in black, white and grey (here is a link to a clip of that scene) and each woman has a unique hat on. Also, the background of the runway was painted like a horse race, as was the backdrop to the horse race in the movie. I don't know exactly if I would wear each of the RL dresses, for they look to old for me (except the simple black one) but they sure do serve as an inspiration! No wonder practically every girls fashion icon is Audrey!

Marc Jacobs (one of the most BIZARRE shows ever!) and Tracy Reese also caught onto the trend:

Now that you've mentioned that, i can see clearly how that collection was inpired by "My Fair Lady" (the yet mentioned scene). Movies are usually a great source when it comes to style inspiration, indeed! The pics you uploaded are beautiful.

ok it's official, i've glanced over your entire blog and am totally in love :) i want to eat your delicious looking elaborate cakes, you have a kick ass taste in music- rilo kiley is one of my absolute favs- and although, like you, i was sorta disappointed with the moneymaker sellout single the rest of the new album is really growing on me- i am addicted to close call. the concretes, lily allen, coldplay, aqualung...., and just basically everything you post on is fantastic!

our adoration is mutual! cannot wait to read more!

seeing that GORGEOUS black dress in the flesh was amazing!
It was in cannes, and me and ma mere were OBSESSED!
Gutted that it's a little out of my budget!

P.S. don't worry about exact mesurements! I'll figure them out, just knowing the ingredients is smashing. I'm making a HSM2 one for friday for a party! Merci beaucoup!

Of course, excellent comparison again! I also saw MFL in RL and loved it. I only wish those dresses were realistic... I'd even do a corset every once and a while!

Wow, the My Fair Lady references are so blatant now. And MJ's collection was just...insane.
