The title says it all. I am NOT a fan of music labeled as country (I know that's blasphemy for a girl born and raised in the south like me). There are, however, some really cool "indie" bands and singers I like that wanna take part in a square dance or two. In other words i do like Alt-country, or songs inspired by old school country and here are some of my favorites:
1. The Captain - Guster
2. Say It Ain't So - The Thrills
3. Waking Up In The City - The Ditty Bops
4. Change is Hard - She & Him
5. The Bank and Trust - The Elected
6. Dig A Little Deeper - The Watson Twins
7. Slowly - Coconut Records
8. Pearls On A String - Ryan Adams
9. I'll Fly Away - Alison Krauss and Gillian Welch
10. The City - Joe Purdy
P.S. My classes were cancelled today due to Hurricane Hanna, and its not even raining outside....

I will have to check out the bands. Wear your wellies....downtown charleston is known for mini-flooding! (it's not called the lowcountry for nothing!)
omg i love ryan adams, the ultimate alt country!
haha you sound just like my best friend. she cringes whenever i turn on anything country.
p.s. the marie antoinette party pictures from before are AMAZING- so decadent!

being so close to nashville it's hard to escape country music ... i think some of it is great, especially the songs that tell silly stories.
