Spider(wo)man

Can fashion inspire food?

When I was asked to make a Halloween cake, I was bored with the idea of the typical pumpkin, orange and black theme. Instead that inspired me was the Rodarte FW08 collection. Rodarte always impresses me with their ethereal, lookslikeafairymadeit clothes. This collection in particular looks like a bunch of fashionable spiders all got together and spun these red and black dresses and tights.

To make the spiderwebs, I melted chocolate, put it in a Ziploc back, snipped off the end and made spiderwebs onto wax paper. Before they dried, I sprinkled big clear crystals on them.

Judging by the looks of that delectable cake, I'd say that yes...fashion can definitely inspire food. You truly are a marvel - I would find it hard to devour such gorgeous desserts; but not impossible, of course! :)

This is so incredibly awesome! Last year I made cupcakes for Halloween but this year I might try and tackle a whole cake. If it's half as good as this I'd be ecstatic!

That looks incredible, I knew it was inspired by Rodarte before I read it!!! Shame cake and me being small enough to fit into fashion don't mix...!
