New Moon, New Music

I am really in Twilight - I even have several posts related to it. So when the soundtrack came out last year, I bought it just because it was the soundtrack to the movie that I was dying to see. After a listen, though, I was a little disappointed - Paramore? Linkin Park? Really? The only standouts to me were the Iron and Wine and Black Ghosts. And most of the songs on the album had already been out for a while - it brought really nothing new to the table. However, the soundtrack for New Moon is polar opposite. It may have something to do with the better plot line, a new director and a new music supervisor (the same girl who picks out music for Grey's Anatomy and Gossip Girl - great taste already!). This soundtrack is all original songs from some of my FAVORITE artists and it looks amazing! With this music alone, its already going to be a better movie lol! I pre ordered it on itunes (you can get bonus songs that way) and it already downloaded 1 song off of it. From what I've heard, its much moodier and darker than the last, very fitting to the movie though :)

1. Death Cab for Cutie - Meet Me on the Equinox
2. Band of Skulls - Friends
3. Thom Yorke - Hearing Damage
4. Lykke Li - Possibility
5. The Killers - A White Demon Love Song
6. Anya Marina - Satellite Heart
7. Muse - I Belong to You (New Moon Remix)
8. Bon Iver and St. Vincent - Rosyln
9. Black Rebel Motorcycle Club - Done All Wrong
10. Hurricane Bells - Monsters
11. Sea Wolf - The Violet Hour
12. OK Go - Shooting The Moon
13. Grizzly Bear - Slow Life
14. Editors - No Sound But the Wind
15. Alexandre Desplat - New Moon (The Meadow)

Oooohh my Lord, I cannot wait for this!

**in other soundtrack news, just got the Where The Wild Things Are soundtrack by Karen O (of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs) and am enchanted - very fun and cute - sounds like it will go perfect with the movie!

I'm a Twihard too! Can't wait for New Moon and now I know Alexandra Patsavas is the music editor, I'm even more excited! Death Cab is already a huge step up from Paramore.

this does look like the best soundtrack ever, twilight is a total guilty pleasure of mine but I cannot hide my love after they turned out a soundtrack this awesome!

btw, the song by the black ghosts on the last soundtrack is probably one of my favorite songs ever. it instantly transports me to mountains and escapism

totally hoping to get my hands on these two CD asap. Looks like it definitely is deeper than the first movie's soundtrack.

Soundtracks can be so amazing when done right. I'm not really a fan of Twilight myself; but seeing as how I'm absolutely smitten with the Gossip Girl soundtrack, I will definitely be checking the New Moon one out! And, of course, Where the Wild Things Are is a given - hello, Karen O! :)

Here is a song that was submitted to Twilight but not included in the movie

The song is "New Moon Rising".

It is amazing how many great songs were submitted but they decided to go with known bands

They remixed the MUSE song? Interesting. I have the original, yet to download the remix. The french opera section almost made me cry.

Check out my Where the Wild Things are post! I can't waaait for the movie either!
