The Pajama Game

So the reason for my serious lack of posts is because I have a lead in a musical called "The Pajama Game". Rehearsals ran until 8 and I had them on the weekends too. But finally all our hard work has paid off! We had our show Thursday, Friday, and tonight. It's so much fun, but very exhausting! Anyways above is our T-shirt and program design that I drew and below is how it looked on the shirts.

The play was an old Dorris Day movie and has been on Broadway. You might of heard that song before called "Steam Heat"? It takes place in the 50's, so of course the costumes are awesome lol! I usually don't like my costumes in plays, but I'm in love with all of them in this play- shirt dresses, full skirts, pencil skirts, a Mrs. cleaver hair do, etc. so this week's playlist has a sort of 50's sound to it:

1. Your Kisses Are Wasted On Me - The Pipettes
2. My Boyfriends Back - The Raveonettes
3. Sisters - The Puppini Sisters
4. You Make Me Feel So Young - Frank Sinatra
5. I Love How You Love Me - Camera Obscura
6. Pennies From Heaven - Louis Prima
7. Old Cape Cod - Patti Page
8. Tea For Two - Pink Martini
9. Happy Feet - Shall We Dance Soundtrack
10. You Belong To Me - Tori Amos

**starting Monday I'll finally be posting more than once a week - I'm excited!

Fairy Ring

Spring is a day away and the weather is actually starting to warm up, with including the inevitable April showers. I loved these photos from the March issue of NYLON. Absolutely breathtaking and I think really capture the essence of spring: dewy, flowery, and fairy-like. Oh how I wish I could go put on a pair of wings, a summer dress, and go sprinkle fairy dust all over the yard hehe :)

Of course the week's playlist with songs that give off that feeling of springtime:

1. Birds - Kate Nash
2. I'll Be Your Man - The Elected
3. Tiergarden - Rufus Wainwright
4. Marry Me - St. Vincent
5. Breakable - Ingrid Michaelson
6. Fidelity - Regina Spektor

Four Left Feet

Let me present to you 2 pairs of girls: two sisters and two lovers, all of which whom make AWESOME music! I decided to put them together in this one post because, not only are the bands just a 2 girl duo, but their music is very similar...

The Pierces

I first discovered this sister duo on the cotillion ball gossip girl episode. They were those girls on the stage singing and swaying left to right, remember? Anyways after hearing their music and having it stuck in my head, I decided to buy their second album Thirteen Tales of Love and Revenge. The sisters leave behind their southern, Alabama accents while singing but a weensy bit of "twang" can be found in the music and beats of their songs. Provocative, femme fatale lyrics...french pop-ish.... a little banjo and theatrical moments add up to one unique and cool CD!

The Ditty Bops

If you liked The Pierces, then the next step is to listen to The Ditty Bops. I first discovered about the lover duo on a Grey's Anatomy CD and immediately bought all of their albums, and not one song is bad! They're VERY theatrical, folk, waltz-y, and love to use sound effects. Its all very fun music and sounds like something they would sell at an arts and crafts folk gallery. Their 3rd CD comes out soon as well - I am very excited!

**I put some of both The Pierces and The Ditty Bops on my music player - enjoy!

All in a Day!

1. Dawn - Pride and Prejudice Soundtrack
2. In the Wee Small Hours of the Morning - Frank Sinatra
3. Perfect Timing (This Morning) - Orba Squara
4. Mornings 11 - The Magic Numbers
5. Late Morning Lullaby - Brandi Carlile
6. Evening Sun - The Strokes
7. Warm Night - The Concretes
8. Tonight - Kate Walsh
9. Sleep Tonight - Stars
10. Breeze Black Night - The Ditty Bops

These songs aren't on the music player because i could only find two songs for the music player lol!

Mirror, Mirror

And just like the Marc by Marc Jacobs SS08 line, I spied another DIY in his FW08 line. If you look close enough, you can see little mirrored pins, which were trendy in the 80's much like this line's inspiration.

I have actually already posted about a mirror broach DIY back in the summer, but if you missed it, click HERE!

Happy Crafting :)

Cookies and Cream

Here is a recipie for a yummy candy that only has 2 ingredients! I make it for teachers and friends around Chrsitmas time, etc, but my dance team coach loves it sooo much that I pretty much make it every holiday for her. And with Valentines day approaching, you may want to make that special someone easy homemade chocolates <3

Cookies and Cream Chocolates
1 package of Oreos (you can use reduced fat, extra stuffed, peanut butter, mint, the colored ones - whatever one you like best!)
1 bag of white chocolate chips

1. Put all the Oreos in a sturdy ziplock bag and crush them all, you can pound them with a cup or rolling pin.
2. Melt the white chocolate chips in a microwave safe bowl, using the microwave (about 1 minute, stirring in between)
3. Stir the Oreos into the melted chocolate, using as much oreo crumbs as you can (you may have some left over).
4. Spoon the mixture onto wax paper by the tablespoonfull into clusters. Let dry. Remove from wax paper and VOILA!
