Ropes Course

The Marc By Marc Jacobs Line always seems to spark a DIY to me. The Fall 08 line had little replicable mirror brooches and his SS08 line had the LEGOS! For this years Spring 09 line, I spied ROPE jewelry.


I purchased some multicolored rope in Italy last summer because I was set on making lanyard knot necklaces. I did nothing with the rope until I saw this collection...

Instead of making those confusing lanyard knots, I basically just tied up all the ropes together to make a necklace in knots of my own.


I like how he took bright colored ropes and accessorized the muted colored outfits with it.

It's completely personal and there is no wrong way to do it - just buy some ropes and make some big knots!

Butterfly Nest

Remember those butterfly hair clips we all wore in elementary school? Consider these a chic more grown up (and more realistic) version. Go to your local craft store and buy faux butterflies (in the silk flowers section usually) and just hot glue onto large bobby pins. Sorry, I thought I would post more this week because I am on spring break at home, but I have actually been tres busy. I guess I should have taken the week off from blogging - I think we all need that sometimes, don't you think? Well I guess I am going to take the weekend off hehe...

By now the word is out about the "ghost designer" behind Gossip Girl Blair's mom Eleanor Waldorf's fabulous clothing line. Abigail Lorick's brand, Lorick, is actually the line you are seeing on our beloved show each Monday night. For the designer's Spring 2009 show, she skipped the usual runway show for a real model display living an indulgent lifestyle we all envy: eating cake with your hands while wearing pretty 50's housewife frocks, lounging around the garden, all while using chandeliers as your lighting.... it is a dream!
