Flyin' First Class

O.P.I. - My Private Jet

I tried to make the splodge look like a plane from birds eye view lol, but anyways, its a super glittery black nail polish - this picture can't really capture how sparkly it really is!

Postcards from Beirut

Oh how I love Beirut, the band that is. I've been in love with them for a year or two now (you have probably seen their music on some of my top 10 song lists). Listening to their music is like an instant trip to Europe, a step back in time and party with gypsies all at once. Their music is explosive, that's the only word I can really think to describe it lol. They have 2 full length Cd's :Gulag Orkestar and The Flying Club Cup, as well as numerous singles and EP's. My recommendation: buy it all! haha but if you cant, I do recommend purchasing the songs below I have on my music player.

I love their CD covers too!

***Below is a music video for Elephant Gun. I think they totally capture the spirit of Beirut in this one. The dancers are my favorite, to some they may seem overtly sexual, but in the dance world, this is so organic and beautiful. ENJOY :)

Speaking of "stars"... We're reading the Canterbury tales in school and we had to make up our own modern day pilgrim and write a poem about him/her. I chose to do the Hollywood starlet lol, here's mine:

I’ve been in a few movies, I have a few CDs
My driving is horrible, someone please take my keys
A different dog to go with each hideous outfit
But there’s always that one piece I forget and leave in the closet
Blackberries and iphones are all that I need
Why read a book when E! News is always up to speed?
Paparazzi! Paparazzi! Everywhere!
They love you most when you’re not donning underwear
My hair has been dyed many a color
I’ve thought about shaving it, but I prefer this over the other
3 magazine interviews, I showed up for none
They called and cussed me out and told me my career was done
Energy drinks, you will never see me without
They keep me up when its 5 am and out and about
A rehab vet, so many times I’ve tried
I always hate the disappointment in their eyes
I want to win an Oscar, I want to do well
But it’s Hollywood and these demons that make it seem like hell
Maybe one day when I’m 40 years old
I’ll write a book about my life that’s never been told

Kinda stupid, but partly true :P

Current Nail Polish

O.P.I. in Siberian Nights
its like a really dark matte eggplant purple
....................................................................................
Also, something to top your nail color off with:
This stuff is unbelievable. You put it on and it makes your nails all glossy and even, dries soooo fast, and makes the polish last over a week. Its def worth the $10!

Let Go of My Lego!

I get inspired for DIY's at the most random, and unnoticed things. But at the Marc by Marc Jacobs SS08 show, it just screamed ARTS AND CRAFTS TIME!

I loved this collection: the military/factory wear, preppy work shoes, pops of bright color, and of course the LEGO'S! Some people loved the Lego's, some hated it, but I thought it was genius and a recipe for an easy DIY.

Here's how I made my own Lego pins and barrettes (I have yet to make a belt buckle):

1. I bought a tub of Lego's and went crazy, making different patterns and shapes with the different Lego's (I got the smallest size)
2. After you have your formations, cut out card stock in the basic shape and glue (I used E6000) unto the back
3. Then glue your pin or barrette to the back, like so

...and voila! you have a Marc Jacobs knock off, months before the real version even gets to stores (plus you saved yourself quite a bit of money lol)

as a pin (Gwen Stefani/Jamaican inspired) and a barrette (bad hair day lol)

you can also put the pin of the strap of a tank!

Happy Crafting :)
